Canon iPF5100 Used and new parts and ink for sale
I recently took a couple iPF5100 printers offline replacing them with 6450s, so I have some new and used parts available that I’d like to get sell to pay for these new ones. I’m in the process of disassembling them to remove any universally useful and easily storable parts, but in the meantime I have multiples of all colors of ink cartridges (expired but only by a few years at most, sorry) and two new sealed PF-03 printheads.

Pro-4000 review updated with 2nd Roll Feed Unit information
A client of mine had his early model roll feed unit replaced for free by Canon and now reports that he can feed thicker papers (like Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl) without a problem. Canon USA tells me that physical modifications to the 2nd roll feed unit have been made to help improve media feeding. With this and the bronzing issues now resolved I think we can say this is a fantastic printer for both photo and fine art work!

ipf 4000 accounting manager used with Mac OS 10.13
Is anybody able to use the accounting manager app under 10.13? Mine refuses and states that "this software is not supported by the operating system" the dialog box doesn't "appear" to be a system generated version but I could be wrong about that. I'm using version 1.01

iPF8100 - Unable to use last 5m of media on 2" core roll
Printer is 9 years old, prints as good as the day it was installed.
Haven't printed for around 2 weeks, tried to run off a few posters this afternoon and having massive issues with the machine chewing up the paper.

It seems as though the paper is getting caught just before exiting the printer. It catches then crumples upward, leading the the head eventually running into it, causing errors. I've unrolled a few metres off the roll, but it continues to occur.

The rolls are only 30m long poster paper on 2" core, so being unable to use the final 5 metres is hardly economic.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and if they have found a solution?

To resurrect or not resurrect an old iPF5000
Hello, everyone. It's been years since I was on this forum. back in the day, we figured out a do-itself fix for the roll paper feeder, and I posted a lot of photos of how to do it, and then we also figured out how to eliminate the banding that happens when the rear feed hands-off a cut sheet to the front tractors. But that's all ancient history.

Fast forward to now, and my old iPF5000 is taking up a huge amount of space in my office, and hadn't even been powered up for at least two years. I got a deal on a Canon Pro 10 printer, smaller, lighter, smaller cartridges, and probably more appropriate for my needs now, but as I have been preparing to take the old iPF5000 out of my office to send it to the landfill, I've had some second thoughts. Looking at all of the prints I made with it, I'm reminded of how good its output was, and how much I always enjoyed the use of 17" wide roll stock and the auto-feed and auto-cutter, etc.

But alas, I would need to buy pretty much a complete set of ink cartridges just to test the unit. Then, it seems likely that the printheads will be clogged and perhaps totally ruined.

I don't really want to spend $900 just to find out if the heads are any good and the printer still works. It certainly wouldn't be worth the money to get it going if it does need two new printheads. Still, being the hoarder I am, I am having a hard time sending this unit to the landfill.

    Any thoughts?

How to keep an old IPF printhead going and when its time to accept defeat?
To see the images of the nozzle checks you can go here:

The top image is from nozzle 1 on the printer in service mode. The bottom from a pc nozzle check in service mode.
also note the poor quality blue print from clogging, this has been kept going for 18 months by manual cleaning. So if you are short of $$ don't panic it doesnt need to be perfect due to canon wizardry. How this works is covered well within the wiki.

the canon ipf6100 uses the 12 lucia inks.
For older users of the ipf 9000s Ipf5000, ipf700, ipf8000, ipf800, ipf650/750 series find this link for the trouble shooting nozzle check manual:
    https://www.manualslib.com/manual/790676/Canon-Ipf9000s.html?page=123
I couldn't find one for my series of printer, so hope someone out there can chip in with some words of wisdom.
Is it definitely the head or should i check the data cable and contacts first?
Happy to pass on my experience to others who come behind.
    cheers
